When you died, I died too

after a brief flurry
of activity
the front door shut
the blinds were drawn
the dust motes settled
the sounds ceased
your bed lies empty
the bathroom mirror
misses your fine face
your clothes hang abandoned
your shoes miss your feet
the footsteps
of your belov-ed
have echoed
for the last time
the appraisers
have come and gone
the for sale sign
soon planted
upon the front yard
I am your old home
when you died
I died too

* I feel such a connection to this old estate. Now I feel its sadness. The only people who come into it now are all about business and money. She is sad and wonders on her fate. I wish a family to buy her and to love her again. Footsteps inside. Laughter. Joy. More likely a developer will buy her and all her land. I admire the majestic old trees. The deer who daintily walk the grounds. The bunnies that I can talk to from 5 feet away. The chipmunks that the Lady of the Estate fed from her hands. The squirrels. The darting, musical birds. I walk the grounds as she did. And I wonder what will happen now to this beauty. Please let her fate be a good one!*

Hmm that’s a good way to put it.

So many places you could take this interpretation. I can hear the old house weep for the little feet that once played and ran down halls
@Quoththeraven Thank you. This home is sad and empty. I can feel its sadness. My desire is that a family will love it once more. Odds are not in its favour. The property is several acres.
Buy a lottery ticket. If you win big I will be your groundskeeper @PoetryNEmotion
@Quoththeraven They have a full- time one who works my days off. You could stay in this home with me!' :)
@PoetryNEmotion but what then shall I do to whittle away the hours of the day?🙃
@Quoththeraven I have some excellent ideas....There are many bedrooms.
@Quoththeraven And the wildlife likes to be fed! Those chipmunks. The deer. The rest....
