Why is Polyamory so looked down on by society?

Is it that much of a problem to love multiple people so deeply in their eyes?

Money. Which kids inherit what from a relationship.
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley Marriage doesn't dictate anything about children's inheritance.
Rosiechick13 · 26-30, F
Easy biological parents or even splits
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer @Rosiechick13 it did years ago
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley Blood relations and /or wills decide what the children get.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer Sure. I'm taking about years ago.
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley So then your reply is moot unless it is meant to paint marriage as arbitrary and archaic.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer No actually. People have been doing this stuff for a long time. We're not the first to think this up. The values that people and societies have survive because they are the ones that work.

Monogamy and marriage are almost universal in human society.

Things haven't changed
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley Work for who and for what? The idea values and power power structures are created and sustained is infallible proof they are for common good or of their virtue is pretty ignorant.

Oh and things most certainly have changed and do change. Change is the only constant.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer why is marriage universal then among all human cultures?
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley Also marriage and monogomy aren't synonymous and the OP didn't ask about marriage. Monogomy has no effect on children inhertance and never has.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer It's related to my argument.
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley It's not universal across all human cultures. The a t of marriage and what it means varies greatly. Monogomy most certainly isn't universal actoss all human cultures and isn't even universal to the concept of marriage.
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley But your arguement has nore holes than swiss cheese.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer Sociology would disagree about the universality of marriage
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer Only to the ignorant
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley Doubt it. Most sociologists amd anthropoloists would likely agree that marriage is defined in many various ways across cultures and throughout history. Pretty sure they would agree that mongomy isn't a universal feature of it either.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer Actually you are wrong
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley You mean like the ones who think the concepts of marriage are universally defined and synonymous to monogomy or do you mean that the ones that think it's necessary for deciding which kids inherit what?
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley How so? What way? Have examples?

What am I wrong about and in which way?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer If you want to debate the incredibly obvious concepts of cultural anthropology find someone else.

Try getting an education
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley That's not an educated refute of anything. It's just a defelction.

Show where anyone in acedemia thinks suggests marriage isn't different in every culture and is universally defined by the all and show anywhere it is suggested that marriage is universally defined as monogomous?

You can't. Each and every culuture defines marriage differently and even in thise cultures the ceremonies, expectations, demands, etc. have changed. There's numerous examples polygamy as an accepted marriage norm within cultures as well.

And you makes these vacuous claims and arguements and dare tell someone to get educated or read a book.
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley what anthropoloists qould agree on is that things have and do change in every and all societies. Which you don't think happens.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer I'm not providing you the education that you should have gotten for yourself
MethDozer · M
@HoraceGreenley The Hail Mary of the disingenuous.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MethDozer The knee jerk retort of the ignorant
