There's a Newcastle near where I live, but I live in Australia. Dad's family came from Yorkshire, around Keighley and Skipton.

Yeah I like how some of the UK place names have been used over here! :) @Allelse

@Claire2k Yeah me too. Like - 'New' South Wales. I mean, New south wales. Haha Why not New North Wales. I mean there's bound to be a historical reason for it, it's just so odd. Or why not just New Wales.

It’ll be someone from Cardiff or something!! They’re quite territorial in Wales, hence the recognition of the ‘South’ bit!! New Wales would probably have been the sensible option wouldn’t it!! Haha@Allelse

@Claire2k Haha! Well the Welsh have a lot to be territorial about, mad Saxons, then Vikings sniffing about, the Irish always sneaking on over then the Normans coming over to try and eradicate their culture and language. Haha! Yeah it'd be like me going to a new planet and naming it 'New Northern Sydney' because that's the area of the world I grew up in.

Yeah I guess you’re right, they’ve had a lot of hassle over the centuries!! I’m surprised there isn’t a ‘New Scotland’ over here! @Allelse

@Claire2k Haha! The Scots get everywhere, there's probably a Scottish town out there somewhere in Australia called Glenwacken Ma Moan or some other unpronounceable Gaelic word.

Probably!! 😬 I’m sure the Aussies would love to live in ‘Clachnacuddin’ in ‘Not so new South Scotland’!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @Allelse

@Claire2k Hahahaha!!! If we could pronounce it. Though if it was a Welsh name it'd have a bunch of 'G's 'Y's and 'V's in all kids of funny places. But I love listening to people talk in Welsh.
