It never really came up as am issue when I lived in Texas. Basically everyone believed in corporal punishment, and some even believed it should be present in school. Things are waaaaay different in Washington State (where I live now) so I'm just trying to see where people overall seem to fall, since my previous view of "basically everyone agrees with it" was clearly biased based on where I lived.

I am against it on children, beyond the level of a slap on the hand of an infant to stop them putting their fingers in a fire or mouse trap. I would, however like to see the parents who fail to control and socialize their children properly in public flogged.
