It never really came up as am issue when I lived in Texas. Basically everyone believed in corporal punishment, and some even believed it should be present in school. Things are waaaaay different in Washington State (where I live now) so I'm just trying to see where people overall seem to fall, since my previous view of "basically everyone agrees with it" was clearly biased based on where I lived.

I’m very conflicted about it, because I think it’s abuse.
And some especially sick, perverted people get off on beating their kids. There are plenty of that sort on this site, and they even brag about it.
They shouldn’t have children. 🙁

@bijouxbroussard can I ask (and genuinely, I'm not trying to be sarcastic at all lol) if you think it's abuse, why are you conflicted? Wouldn't you just naturally say then that it should be banned?
@Lucyy In your survey, I chose the third option. I know how I feel about it, but swatting a child who’s not listening, without feeling the need to undress or humiliate them, or doing it while you’re angry, might be appropriate. No one but a sexual predator would undress and beat their teenager, though. As someone else pointed out, people grow up and this becomes a sexual fetish, which is kind of sick.
