Do you switch your router off when you go out or to bed.

Any decent router should reconnect in a few minutes when switched back on.

@trackboy wow do you live in the sticks. A friend of mine switched to a car Wi-Fi system run off a battery. Increased his speed a lot.

@ScottishMaster yes live in the outer suburbs. well outside the range of dsl service. and right at the limit of idsl service which uses a repeater card to boost the line voltage between phone office and house to 100 volt dc. then the repeater card reduces it to normal levels for going to the idsl modem in the house. repeater card is in grey box on side of house. 馃巹

@trackboy Do you get a decent phone signal. If so id use a wifi system from a car. You can run it off a battery. You will get a massive difference in speed if you get a half descent phone signal.

@ScottishMaster yes get stable signal on the idsl service. few errors. it stays up and running during the blackouts here. cable internet goes down when the power goes out. cellular service charges a fortune for data. there is no data charge over idsl service. have a ups unit for the router and idsl modem so they stay up when the power goes out. if the power stays out we fire up the generator then switch the house over to generator power. 馃樅
