While reading on interior designs I saw a history of the conversation pit.

Becoming a feature in the 1950s it peaked in the 1970s.

This is from a 1966 article showing teens hanging out.

This is from an early 1970s article showing a sound system featuring a turntable to the left, a tape deck to the right, a keyboard in the center, along with the brightly colored furniture.

I am in a bit of a fascination phase with the conversation pit.
What do you think of it?

There was never one where I lived but I remember them in wealthier families' houses and I thought they were very cool. I still like the idea. Also we've still got a turntable, and brightly coloured furniture :)
@ThePatientAnarchist From what I gathered the pits weren't found in houses belonging to middle class families. But yes they're cool looking.
That's great you still have the turntable and the brightly colored furniture!
