I understand it takes a lot longer to dry a load in one of those.
Orca4950 · 70-79, M
@DunningKruger ask your electrial supplier if they have an estimate on the amount of electricity it would use.

We bought one about a year ago. I doubt that we would go back to the old style. There are a bit expensive so don't buy one if your old machines still work but it is so nice to toss a load into the machine before bedtime and wake up with clean dry clothes in the morning. I do think the clothes come out a bit cleaner as well but they are not quite as dry. Certainly dry enough to wear or put away but not as scorched dry as the older dryer we have. That and the fact there is no worry about the vent becoming plugged. All the lint is in the filter.

@hippyjoe1955 thank you!

We have one and love it. We wouldn't have room for two full size machines so it helps to get it all done in one machine.

@sarabee1995 thanks !!

When looking for a set for our daughter we asked at the appliance store about them. Said many have complained that the clothes do not get dry. So we went with the standard separate set.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Never seen one. Yet it would likely need frequent filter replacements and cleaning of those filters. Your basically recirculating the air.

How it separates the moisture, I have no idea either. That moisture needs to go somewhere, even if it's a drain. And that wouldn't make it ventless. The drain would be the vent.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
I`ve never heard of a ventless one?
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@Degbeme me neither until I started looking for laundry units
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Degbeme They exist and we have one. The moist air is cooled as the heat is recycled through a heat exchanger. As the air cools the water vapour condenses and is pumped out as water. It goes down the sewer not outside as steam. They use a lot less electricity as well because they use heat pumps and heat exchangers rather than a heating element.

@hippyjoe1955 Thank you for this.

An extra to come in handy?

Explain.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@LunarOrbit my daughter and her husband are coming back to Canada for a year and will stay in my basement apartment. They can have the washer/dryer set already down there and I’ll get another for upstairs.
