Is $17,000 enough to move out?

I may not be a lot but I was just curious. That’s my estimate of what I have. I do help my dad pay the bills and stuff says it’s really hard right now inland rent is like really high. My best friend said, “Not if we get roommates to help pay rent and you need to stop depending on you dad for an answer and be an adult. He isn’t going to be around forever. Be a grown up and move out of daddy’s house!” Shows us how much she knows. She needs to understand that rent is so high right now. My estimate is $6000 in my checking account and $11000 in savings. I will NOT tell you my real amount I have. I am a teacher’s assistant so I don’t make much.

Not really but then again it depends where you live and what you’re looking for. There’s rent for under $1000. You really gotta LOOK. You should consider moving out and have your friend as a roommate. She has a point I mean, what are you going to do when your dad is gone? If she asks you again, who are you going to depend on? If you think YOU are ready, then YOU GO! You’re an adult! I make about $22,000 a year and my cousin and I split the rent. Have an open mind.
