Veterans Day

I'd like to thank all those Americans who helped liberate Europe from the horrors of fascism. Without you good people Europe would be a Nazi concentration camp, or a Stalinist Gulag. I will never forget, and I put a flower at the "Unknown Soldier's" monument every year.
Thank you guys – I kiss you. 💋

A big percentage of Americans now hate anyone that does not like Fascism. They call them the "antifa"...........most don't even know what it stands for..........but they hate because Scammy Davis told them too.

@anythingoes477 your comment makes no sense.
@samueltyler2 Take a remedial reading class and then try reading it again.

@anythingoes477 Please, my post was intended to appreciate the service of American veterans in Europe during WW-II, on the occasion of Veterans Day. Let's not make it a battle field.
@helenS As a veteran I have already been in battles............are comments not welcome on your PUBLIC posts? Whatever I fought for the right to say?
helenS · 36-40, F
@anythingoes477 Comments are always welcome.

@anythingoes477 From one veteran to another: Comments are always welcome; trolling is not.

What's the difference?

Well, Helen put forth a beautiful post here thanking the veterans of WWII. Any comment relevant to the post is, of course, welcome. That's what social media is.

But you didn't comment on the post, did you??? No, instead you jumped onto her post about veterans of WWII and chose to use this space to hate on another completely unrelated topic (Antifi didn't even exist in the twentieth century, never mind in WWII).

What you did was not comment on her post (which would always be welcome). What you did has a name in social media: it's called trolling and it is never welcome.

You want to post about Antifi? Go for it. But don't hijack someone else's post for your agenda.

@anythingoes477 A reply of a Troll. Please respect this post.
@KiwiBird Yes because of course your post is certainly ALL about the topic of veterans, huh? Let me guess. Be more like you I guess. DUH!!!
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@anythingoes477 Fuckwit!!! 🤣
@KiwiBird Awwwwww.........touch a nerve did I? When people try to be righteous and are only hypocrites while doing it....and one points that out to them......they get the reaction you gave.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@anythingoes477 No. Not trying to tell you what is right and what is wrong ... Just trying to explain the common courtesies of social media.

I bet this is not the first time you've been called a troll? Am I right? I'm sure, as a veteran, and by the sounds of it a senior veteran, you don't appreciate young people calling you a troll. Well, there are common courtesies on social media just as there are in life.

It's like knowing when to say please and thank you or yes sir and yes ma'am. If you don't care how you come across to others, then just keep doing what you're doing. If you'd rather be welcomed into the discourse, try to stay on topic when you visit posts of others.

Be well brother. 🫡
@sarabee1995 It's you that thinks you understand my post.........but you don't. The original post by HelenS was directed at veterans and eliminating fascism. I am a veteran who knows and remembers our U.S. history and world history......and its obvious you are not a veteran and do not know history.

The mention of "antifa" that is so hated now by ignorant trump cult members were the first veterans in WWI to fight fascism in Europe. And again in WWII our troops fought against the spread of fascism. They were the original "antifa",.....anti-fascists. In other words those veterans were first real actual Americas who died fighting FOR democracy and AGAINST what trump and his cult want to rule America now.

My post was very relevant to the original post made by helen. You simply could not...and most likely still can't connect the dots as to the relevance of what my post said and how it related to her post. By finding fault with what I replied to her post it's obvious you are clueless to any of the above and how the radicalized cult in America is wanting EXACTLY for America (and a dictator/leader) what our veterans fought against and died to eradicate in Europe in two world wars.

It is your comments that are completely non-relevant to helens post and what it meant. If you knew and understood the historical relationship between veterans and ending fascism you'd know that. Read a history book.

@anythingoes477 i have to admit, you had me confused. So you are against the far right, mostly MAGA republicans, who seem to want a strong man as a leader, a man who has already pledged a purge of government, even throwing out the US Constitution. I served in the military as well, the trend in our nation frightens me. Rather than increasing freedoms, some are trying to remove them. At an exhibit if Williamsburg, the living nature of the Constitution was stressed, the interpretation was that it should not be taken ver batim, but is a living document meant to be made more perfect as the years go on.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@anythingoes477 Actually I hold a bachelor's degree in European History (thank you) and know full well that the origins of the word antifa stem from the 1920's.

However, the modern movement known as Antifa had it's very early origins in Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall (mid-1990's) and more significantly in the early 21st century in the USA.

There is no straight line you can draw between the modern movement and the veterans of WWI or WWII.

@samueltyler2
...document meant to be made more perfect as the years go on.
Through the legal amendment process setup by the Constitution itself. A process, by the way, that is intentionally difficult in order to hold off the tyrany of the majority. The process intentionally requires super-majorities in order to slow change.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sarabee1995 yes, but it was intended to be interpreted not just amended! It shouldn't require an endment. The problem to day, though, is we have some crazies who believe in the strict interpretation of the constitution as it was originally written. Without going down that rabbit hole, many SCOTUS decisions over the years are being reversed.
@sarabee1995 [i]There is no straight line you can draw between the modern movement and the veterans of WWI or WWII.[/i

There is not only no straight line...there is no line at all. Antifa is a slang word that was coined in 2016 during the trump administration.........slang for the "enemy"..... (ie never trumpers) ......who don't want trump and his ideas of fascism and dictatorship as his legacy to America. A large majority of trumpers have no idea whatsoever that "antifa" is an abbreviation for ANTI-fascist.........a movement against trump and the authoritarian/dictatorship type government he stands for.....with him as the head. They simply see the word as standing for anyone that don't like trump and are ignorant of any historical semblance for the term. In fact 99% of trumpers don't even relate trump's promises to tear up the Constitution (meaning the end of ALL elections from then on)....and ideals as fascism....because they do not even understand what that is....or what it means for them if they get it.

Trump cult members have used the term to refer to blacks that riot....those that blame them for J6....to those that oppose trump...to those that prosecute him. It's a generalized catch-all term that means to them....if you don't love our cult leader,.....then you are obviously antifa. The term is a morphed word...an abbreviation...slang.....that was not used at all in the 1920's.....or the 1940's.

I am degreed as well......smh.
