Does your family have a traditional meal on New Years Day to ring good luck?

For our family it's always been ham and beans with sweet cornbread.

Not for a main meal, but lentils are customarily involved.
@sciguy18 How are they prepared ? 😋

@sciguy18 I think most places either do some kind of bean or lentil or a cabbage dish like sauerkraut

@bijouxbroussard Traditionally, they are served with sausage called cotechino. I just had a bowl of lentil soup.
@sciguy18 Awesome ! Good and healthy.
Last week I prepared some pasta (gemelli) with pesto sauce, capers and slivered almonds, sprinkled with a blend of shaved Parmesan and Mozzarella. It was just an experiment, but Pop loved it. So I’m making it again and taking it to them tomorrow.

@bijouxbroussard That sounds good. I have to lay off the capers though because of the sodium.
@sciguy18 Wow, I didn’t realize they were a source. 🙁

@bijouxbroussard Pretty much anything that is pickled has more sodium than I’m supposedly allowed.
@sciguy18 That makes sense.
