The year is almost up! Which memory stands out the most for you? [I Wish Everyone a Happy New Year]

For me it was the first days of lockdown, seeing the empty streets around here, looking through the window and seeing a ghost city. Pretty shocking!

I think my most horrible memory is when my local stores stopped all delivery service for groceries. I tried and tried to wake up at 6:30 a.m. to shop during special hours, and when I finally succeeded my car battery was dead and my mechanic was closed.

If I had not had Amazon.com I would have run out of food, and they only had canned and dried food in stock.

I remember the price gouging online. I paid $35.00 for 4 lbs of brown rice. I ordered dried powdered eggs because I could not get fresh eggs. I ordered as many things in cans as I could, but even canned goods were in short supply and you could not be picky. I could not get canned fruit, so I ordered pie filling. I could not get bacon so I ordered bacon jerky. I still have some of the weird food I ordered. I could not get greens or green veggies, so I ordered kale powder. (Still don't know what to do with that).

Coconut milk, almond milk, oat milk...not available. I learned to use powdered coffee creamer instead of milk...and even tried dried coconut cream powder. THAT is some weird stuff.

@cherokeepatti A lot of people did. I am just lucky I figured out how to survive with online dried and canned food.

@4meAndyou That’s why I started stocking up my pantry in November. Got some frozen veggies & fruit, frozen meat, powdered & canned milk, canned veggies, pasta, beans, lentils, rice & baking stuff for breads etc....and it didn’t get that bad here.

@cherokeepatti I am fortunate that deliveries have started again, here.
