With the plethora of things to watch and the drift from mainstream TV in the UK, I think they've stopped throwing money at programmes and films over Christmas. ITV gave up years ago. I notice that the soaps are becoming less popular on Chritmas Day and many episodes didn't make it to the top ten (overnight figures). The BBC still manages to come out on top (specifically BBC1), but the numbers 2-3m are 20m shy of the Christmas Morcambe and Wise Shows of the 70s. Since there were only 3 channels to choose from, that is not surprising.
I watched nothing apart from a couple of news bulletins which told me the surprising story about the King going to church and Andrew not attending. 🙄

Agreed -- and what holiday TV there is tends to be repeats of the same few movies and specials.

@AdmiralPrune I haven't watched TV for years.

@hippyjoe1955 Each to their own.

@AdmiralPrune Absolutely. When my kids and grandkids come over they never mention it so I kind of assume they don't watch it either. I was over at a friends place and noticed he had draped a blanket over his TV and then laughed that he doesn't watch it anymore so the blanket adds to the view.

I’ve not watched anything this Christmas 🎄
HoeBag · 46-50, F
I thought in order to watch any christmas show, one had to subscribe to whatever list of "special" channels is popular this month.
AdmiralPrune · 41-45, M
@HoeBag No generally the 5 terrestrial channels would put sine family entertainment on, but apparently that’s too much effort now.

@AdmiralPrune I do not watch much TV but from my understanding, companies want people to pay for anything that isn't complete BS.
Course then you have to pay even MORE to not have commercials.

We didnt even turn it on this year tbh.

a very true observation, tv now is dire and absolute rubbish, i hardly ever have it on now.

Has been appalling.
It seems like four hours of programming repeated ad nauseum
