Waynesville and Maggie Valley are beautiful areas of the Western NC mountains.

@RSquared Did you know that Maggie Valley was named after a 17 year old mountain girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, born in 1890, and that when she learned that the Post Master had named their post office, (and thus, their town), Maggie, North Carolina, she was so deeply embarrassed that she burst into tears and ran up the mountain to hide?

@4meAndyou I’ve never heard that story.

@RSquared I was intrigued when I heard the name of the valley, so I looked up the origins of the story of how a town got to have a girls name!

@4meAndyou That is quite an interesting explanation.

@RSquared have you been here?
RSquared · 61-69, M
@Secretsmile Oh yes. I like gambling in Cherokee. And many lifetimes ago I spent my first anniversary at Fontana.

@RSquared Yup! If you want to see a photo of Maggie, it is on this website!
