I Love Christmas

MERRY XMAS!

Many people take exception to the above writing of “Merry Christmas.” They complain that “You're X-ing out Christ!” and “Keep Christ in Christmas!”
Well, we are keeping Christ in Christmas, and here's how.
The Greek word for Christ is χριστός, which is pronounced “Khristos.” That “X” that you see at the beginning of the word is the Greek letter Chi, pronounced “Khai.” It is a symbol for Christ. You might say it is a sort of Greek shorthand.
So when you see a display of MERRY XMAS they are not “X-ing out” Christ, or obliterating Him in any way.
Of course religious organizations or churches would not use this shorthand, but spell out the entire word—MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Logical! But I honestly think Xmass is just short hand. Christ has been missing from Christmas for some time. I'm non dogmatic and very spiritual. The meaning of Christmas to me is of love hope charity and good will. With or without Christ. So I fact even though I'm not Christian I keep a Christian view, because there is nothing wrong with that. More people should know what mankind is capable of, so why not a season that reminds

I agree that the spiritual "true meaning" has gone out of Christmas. I think one of the most poignant examples of this was in an episode of South Park, in which the town was going to have a birthday party for Jesus (who inexplicably lives in South park!). The townspeople were all fighting one another over being offended by Christmas trees, pageants, Nativity scenes and wreaths that they forgot about the party for Jesus, who sat dejectedly in an empty hall while singing "Happy Birthday" to an uncut cake. I think the message was quite clear even through the parody.
@BadPam: I agree with your sentimate. For Christians, the idea of Christ is missing, especially by manny claiming to be Christian. But the idea of gratitude, grace and giving to and for humanity, Didn't begin with Jesus. Spirituality has been present in many cultures post and pre Christianity. I think Jesus, as a profit was simply trying to add love and forgiveness to all spiritual sentiments.

@JoanieNewHampshire: Well if you read the Old testament you will find that there was indeed spirituality present, and not only that, but we know from The Book of the dead that there was a spirituality among Ancient Egyptians as well. Jesus even said in several places that He was trying to make God's law more loving and neighborly, even though He admitted that this new way of thinking would become extremely divisive.
And that's what I love about Jesus! @BadPam:
