Is your Christmas tree a fake or a real? [I Like To Look At My Christmas Tree Lights]

I have a fake one, mainly because we couldn't get a real one without driving an hour but also because last year our tree had a bit of a spider infestation and I'm still fighting off spider nightmares

Its a real artificial tree....
I'd like to plant one outdoors to use as a living Christmas tree. I'd usually have an artificial one.

I've had my 3 y/o daughter for 2 days. Ex just picked her up, and chose to blast me in front of her because I said I don't believe in Christmas trees and won't be getting one when my ex asked if we went and bought one. She then proceeded to say my daughter is deeply into Santa (which means my ex has conditioned her to believe in Santa). I'm sure there are plenty of other ways to do Christmas without a tree. I have a real Australian Christmas Tree - a Persoonia Pinifolia - though it's only about 40 cm tall (picked it up from native plant nursery yesterday) but will be a garden feature plant so next year if I still live here it will be really good.

So then, what *is* a 'real' Christmas Tree (tm) then? Australia has long followed the northern hemisphere myth of pine trees representing what a 'true' christmas tree should look like (even the fake plastic ones), but who cares. If you have a suitable plant and choose to cover it in lights and decorations what's wrong with that? If you choose to not have any decorations at all, what's wrong with that?

@zonavar68 who said there was anything wrong with those? I couldn't care less if someone stuck a twig in their living room and called it a Christmas tree. Why are you looking for some kind of confrontation 😂
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
@WithinYou Only a confrontation if you believe that's the intention, which it's not. Just trying to work out why the projected idea is that a pine tree is a christmas tree and anything else is not.

@Waymore not aiming to cause problems, but I find it kinda weird that they had this blocked off as a 'click to view comment'. I'm sorta curious how this could have been considered an possibly offensive comment.

As a kid growing up, we always had real trees, but we could literally go in our back yard to find one LOL

No tree here - it's a pagan symbol.

A real one :-)
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Could it possibly matter?
WithinYou · 36-40, F
@Elevatorpitches does anything matter really?
@WithinYou uhhh...yeah.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
We don’t have a tree 🥺
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit My point is can we stop focusing on the idea that everyone has to do this red and green stuff for three months just because it's such a conformist country and not so much cause everyone gets fairy tale happy because of it. Or because everyone is a Christian. Its also a tiny bit..mindless.
WithinYou · 36-40, F
@Elevatorpitches could it possibly matter if people want to add a bit of sparkle to things for a month in celebration of something?
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@Elevatorpitches I think it is more that we all have the choice to do what we like. But I swear I won’t try & discuss it with you 🌻
