The "Hispanic Heritage" month

Just a random 30days that starts in the middle of September and ends in the middle of October or something weird like that, America has decided to "celebrate" Hispanic people. It really grinds my gears!! As a Cuban and Panamanian woman darker skin is very underrepresented in this Hispanic "month"! They make everyone look the same and it's irritating. Like way to be inclusive but not though🙄

Ah well. It's actually been a great day so I guess I just gotta take the lemons and trade the for apples😊

Yeah I'm Dominican, everybody expect Hispanics to be brown to white passing never black. Which hilarious because when it comes to music they always want to claim Spanish Caribbean music as part of the culture. I don't celebrate this month

@empanadas Me either. At one point I thought about it. I'm from a state that has little diversity as far as Hispanics go but I don't need a holiday to teach and celebrate who I am, especially when they don't execute it properly..

@MizzO I can relate, I grew up in a state where they had no idea Hispanics had black people. I would get weird looks the moment I spoke Spanish. They gave Hispanics a month that no meaning to it. can't stand that they force shit on us that we don't care.
