Do people still wear their masks where you are ?

@gol979 Empirically YES but in conjunction with avoiding mass gatherings of people when ever possible. I went to a James Taylor concert with my Wife.. everyone was packed in like sardines in a can... we wore masks from the moment we left our homes (public transit) and disinfected our hands carefully and only ten percent of the people were wearing masks at that concert.. it is one of the very few transgressions I committed.. Being careful where we go along with wearing masks and being FULLY immunized and boosted appears to have consistently been effective. I am a recreational sailor.. our family is on the boat when we sail and it is a perfectly isolated venue.. it has been our recreational activity and it completely eliminates close contact with others..

@pdqsailor1 "FULLY immunized" in the same sentence as "comp!etely eliminates close contact with others".......makes no sense. If youre ful!y immunized why avoid ppl?

@gol979 it would if the vaccines were perfect.. but alas they are not.. they lessen the lethality, the degree of illness they do NOT eliminate the chance of catching the virus... this is a game of odds and yes the vaccines are a whole lot better than nothing but to improve MY chances of not getting sick I behave in a manner to further reduce my potential to exposure of disease.. and yes this make ALL the sense in the world and so far it has worked very well.. I don't need ANYONE to agree with me or to follow MY lead.. I employ my own criteria to my own health... I am not telling anyone else what to do.. To date I personally knew of only one person who died from Covid.. What I can tell you is that I am going to continue to protect MYSELF according to my own critical analysis of the risks I see...

@pdqsailor1 Again, its your choice and i hope you extend that to ppl that choose not to go along and speàk out against mandates because as you stated they dont stop the spread of anything

@gol979 The reaction I am given from some of those who do not wish to wear masks is as ignorant and boorish as it is possible to be... I personally do not care if they get sick a dozen times or worse happens to them.. I do not tell others what to do.. I do not however want to hear the opinions of others telling ME what I should do. I have anti vaccine friends... some of whom wore masks and isolated and avoided getting sick and others who have not isolated, worn PPE and have been sick multiple times... I don't tell them what to do... they generally have the good grace to avoid telling ME what to do... I went to a family event a Bar Mitzvah.. at the synagogue the was social distancing and mask wearing enforced...but when it came to the luncheon ... OMG mass stupidity broke out... I chose to leave rather than risk the consequences.. my choice, my rules. In Ontario we just had an election and politically all mandates were dropped.. do I think this is stupid? Yes. Do I think there will be consequences for this? Yes... Am I going to change my behaviour until the FACTS say that the disease has been substantially eradicated? No... That is what me doing me is all about and for ME... I make my own rules.. and so far they have worked out just fine.

@gol979 When did I say I agreed with "injection mandates"...? I said no such thing.. I said the vaccinations lesson the severity of the disease, that is a proven fact. I said the vaccinations are not perfect.. they do not categorically stop the disease... I never said that people HAD to get vaccinated.. I personally think generally people who do not get vaccinated are idiots unless they have a medical reason not to be vaccinated... For certain professions that required mandates... I am not opposed to the reasons for them as people still have the choice to stay off the job with out vaccinations or work with them.. its their call.. .Vaccination mandates have always been around.. if you do not vaccinate your children they are not eligible to be registered for schools.. this is in effect no different. So in cases such as certain professions ... I am supportive of mandates.. because those who do not want them have the freedom to work elsewhere where no such requirement exists.. they do not have the absolute right to work in a profession where vaccinations are required...

@pdqsailor1 you said in your previous message it was stupid to drop mandates.....you meant masks though. Apologies. Any form of mandate os wrong imo. And anyone supporting any kind of medical mandate can step aside the "my body, my choice" debate because you clearly think "your body, my/states choice"

@gol979 the numbers show that a rise in infections from the dropping of mask usage is happening. I am saying for political expediency they jumped the gun and it was not based on factual EVIDENCE... I am a very simple guy... I go on the basis of what works and on facts.. not on arbitrary rules.. but most people do NOT possess the discipline to moderate or regulate their actions or activities.. That too is a fact.

@gol979 I am not going to enter into a debate on the use or the efficacy of the PCR test because I do not know the answers and frankly it does not matter much to me... You see I have avoided getting sick and while from time to time I have taken a rapid test for some level of confirmation I have not had a PCR test nor have I or my Wife or my elderly Mother suffered any symptoms of the disease... I do not think it subject to debate as to how many people have died or how many have entered ICU units or got sick or what the cumulative economic costs have been for this viral adventure ride the world has been taken on... The numbers are substantial. As to the orange haired orang-utan well he was never my guy, I am a Canadian, our public idiots were nine months late obtaining stocks of vaccine prolonging our costs and isolation as Canada has no vaccine production facilities - big surprise there...... All the fat lying idiot did was write cheques with public money to speed the facilitation of the vaccine... and he was among the first recipients of it after the dumb ass got infected. He really belongs in prison not in public.
