I was just noticing (perhaps it’s just a coincidence)…

That with the exception of the posts where people are asking to be downvoted, so they can see if people are really identified,

There are already a lot fewer downvotes, even on political posts.

i think it's a very volatile way to encourage the purchase of VIP. i wish the entire site would just boycott it altogether. we have the power, but little will to unite... i thought. maybe there is hope.

remember, y'all, people can hide their VIP status. it was always a coward's way, keeping it secret. either show all to all, or get rid of it. we could all get rid of it via boycott.

@SW-User Using this site, with an adblocker, not buying VIP likely affects their income more. Which brings up the issue, how do sites make money? I find SW uses negative emotions to try and influence, but that's common.
SW-User
@SW-User yes, it is common, even on sites that don't have pay options. it's toxic

ps- likely your reply will be moderated due to key words
@SW-User I’m keeping mine, because there are benefits that I use (and not to spy on anyone). I hated the anonymity of the downvote and this seems to show that people might not be as willing to downvote for petty reasons if there’s a chance the person can identify them. They certainly won’t be able to vindictively seek out individuals’ posts to downvote, because that person can now identify and block them.
SW-User
@SW-User They can, I don't mind.
@SW-User But those who do now may have a way to stop it.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard But I don't have VIP, and I can't guide them, and how do you mean? It's pretty clear already admins don't listen to users here. (I have gotten responses before)
@SW-User Way too much backstory to recount. Check it out under admin announcements.

@bijouxbroussard i realize the way i worded that made it sound like i'm suggesting boycotting VIP. i'm not. i meant we should all boycott the downvote and make it useless as a manipulation tactic. i have VIP, too, but i'm not likely to block anyone who downvotes me. i only block confrontational/harassing users. i wish everyone could...
identify and block them.
it's not fair to have to pay to avoid abuse.

@bijouxbroussard I don't want to bring in other issues into this, but I'm adamantly pro-choice, anti-stigma, anti-vigilantism.. and you can guess on this site that might get you in trouble. I also can read, and not all meanings are as black and white of those who love to shame.... I try to walk a line here. But I've been called a pigfucker for reminding people of what accusation means
@SW-User I have used it very rarely, and never on any post where I wouldn’t be willing to be identified. I get what you’re saying about paying to avoid abuse. Some of us are already doing that, because 500 blocks are really not a lot on a site where people can have as many alternate profiles as they’re willing to provide an email address for.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard i have used it where i would gladly admit it as well. the last site i was on showed up and downvotes for everyone. all votes could be seen by all, and the comments with the most positive votes were automatically given best comment status. it was competitive, but people were held to their individual accountability. and blocks only kept people from participating on your posts, but they could still see the post. i've often wished SW could have a blend of the best aspects of that site and this one. middle lines are hard to come by these days.
SW-User
@SW-User Exactly.
I'd pay for VIP if it really meant something good.
As is, not a penny anymore.
