Money doesn't buy happiness but poverty precludes it.
@CountScrofula that was well said.

@DarkHeaven Stole from a friend of mine lol
@CountScrofula wisdom is wisdom.

@CountScrofula I respectfully disagree. Poverty introduces more challenges but it doesn’t preclude happiness. Massive numbers of people in this world live in poverty but I don’t think it’s true that none of them are able to experience happiness.
@Harmonium1923 depends on the level of poverty, sir. Starving people are rarely happy.

@DarkHeaven Fair enough. People who are suffering—from starvation, Disease, war, whatever—are by definition not happy. My point was only that poverty itself is not synonymous with suffering.
@Harmonium1923 Nobody here disagrees with that but as the level of poverty grows… that harder that becomes in general.

@Harmonium1923 What do you mean poverty isn't suffering?

@Harmonium1923 Poverty is also a relative concept because the economies work very differently around the world.
But if your basic needs are not being met you aren't going to be particularly happy. When I had to make a choice between food and rent, and chose rent, I wasn't doing a dance.

@CountScrofula Yes, I get it. I think we're all basically in agreement here, but saying the same things in different ways.
