Cold front coming in and I’ll be wearing a chemo pump till Sunday afternoon so nothing special. Planning to cook chili tomorrow.

@cherokeepatti what is a chemo pump? My dad was just diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma today, we are still waiting to see the type and grade. They said if it's stage four he'll need chemo, but he's bed bound and that'll be difficult going back and forth outpatient.

@Coralmist I go to a Cancer hospital and have chemo at the chemo center. He’ll need to have lab tests before every chemo session and see his oncologist. How often is determined by the type of chemo treatment. Mine have been every two week. They are talking about putting me on chemo pills since I’ve well-tolerated this latest type since June. I would need to get lab tests about once a month (I think, not sure yet) and see my oncologist before getting a refill of the pills.
There are patients who use transportation services to get them to the chemo center. If his insurance pays for transportation then he will have a certain amount of times he can use it every year. Have also heard from employees in the cancer center that there are volunteer services here for those who don’t have any other way to get to their appointments or treatments.

@Coralmist thank you, and I hope they aren’t harsh on my stomach.

@cherokeepatti I hated my 46 hour pump, could't sleep properly
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@NativePortlander1970 I sleep in a lift chair. it helps to prevent from twisting the line and having a chemical spill if it gets pulled out from the pump or whatever. But here I am at nearly 1 a.m. and haven’t gone to sleep yet. I believe that’s due to the steroids that they gave me… And I’ve had two hot flashes already. It’s getting really cold outside (high in the 30’s tomorrow) and the furnace is coming on very often which means my bedroom will feel overheated and dry air, it’s hard for me to sleep when it’s like that.
