How do you go with crossword puzzles?

Started a new 406 clue crossword.
Have completed 111 clues, knowing all the answers with no mistakes.
It is amazing what the mind retains.

Clue: Bryan across the Mersey (5 letters). That was one of my favourite clues that year, I was 12 then and I wasted no time in writing the answer in.

@Gusman It's not particularly cryptic. It's easy enough for a 12-year-old who was familiar with popular music at the time. It's "Ferry" (as in the singer Bryan Ferry). What mode of transport goes across the Mersey?
