Do you like to read magazines or books?

There are some magazines I bought because I was interested in the topic but I never actually read them, and now I realized that even though it is interesting, it is like reading about the past that may be different now.

I like reading really old magazines, newspapers and books. I found a stack of old university newspapers in the attic of the house we lived in and read them. The controversial questions they asked students at theun were much different than today...back in the early 60's they were taking polls asking if co-eds should be allowed to wear shorts to class or if women should smoke on campus. Today the questions are about things like politics, war or social issues. I also found a stack of newspapers from the 1930's and read them and was sort of surprised at how much was known about Hitler and yet nothing was done about the situation until after Pearl Harbor, it was building up so many years before then.

A lot of magazines are like fish - useful when fresh, but needing to be discarded in a hurry if you don't take advantage of that period

I used to read a lot of Reader's Digest. (ever read one of those?) However, everything has become online now, I don't remember when the last time was since I picked/held a magazine.

I remember that Reader's Digest was recommended to help improve English, but a teacher in college said that it's no longer a good source for that (I forgot why).

I am not interested in it anymore, because improving English skill doesn't seem to help much in life, because everyone can speak English in the country I'm in...only difference is their level/proficiency.
Well, it definitely helped in improving my vocabulary. However you're right, it was something they forced us to read in school. I never really enjoyed reading the majority of their articles, it was more of their funny anecdotes.

What kind of magazines do you like to read?

Dance magazines, but I stopped because since my country's in asia and the magazines are from europe and the UK, so not everything is related.

why the hardcover?

@Keinaf: I'm just picky like that, I like to have the feeling of a hardcover book in my hands

Books.
Most magazines are so full of ads that I find it detracts from the content.

Books. Magazines make me throw up a little in my mouth.
