Why do humans crave drugs?

It seems that people are hardwired to enjoy all sorts of drugs (alcohol, weed, video games, ...). I find that interesting since it looks like a flaw in our brain that we are trying to fix by escaping our thought, or our true personality. What do you think is the main reason we escape into the arms of brain altering mechanisms.

It produces the same type of chemicals in the brain that being in love does. Love is an evolutionary mechanism that helps us strengthen relationships and reproduce.

It's not a weakness of will. We're biologically wired to become addicted to drugs. If you remember how terrible your breakup made you feel, that's more or less what's going on inside an addicts brain when they sober up.
