Yes! We need a universal non-profit medical system.

@badminton then what's the incentive for the brightest to go into the medical profession

@saragoodtimes Other countries who have universal health care systems don't seem to have any problem finding doctors. Medicine should not be a get-rich-quick scheme at the expense of ill people.
@badminton medicine isn't a get rich quick thing. a doctor starts heavily in debt and it takes a long time to build a successful practice

@saragoodtimes a doctor is only a part of the medical system and not the whole. Doctor starts heavily in debt due to the university fees, that lures many into it to get rich quickly. Otherwise why would someone risk going into debt. But Doctor's earning is okay because he is going to spend it otherwise unlike the others part of the medical system such as hospitals & pharma companies that uses the doctor to make money and invest it only to raise the prices.
@in10RjFox a doctor is the key to the medical system. without them you have no system.

@saragoodtimes I think you do not have a grasp of what is being discussed. We are discussing cost of healthcare system, not just the doctor.

A male doctor will consult and prescribe for free in return for a blowjob. But can't be done for other costs.
@in10RjFox you have no clue. a doctor's practice is a business. he has to pay staff, provide benefits and malpractice insurance. collect and pay taxes, pay half of medicare insurance, accept what insurance will pay, pay rent or a mortgage. only BJ my husband accepts is from me

@saragoodtimes ah! now the cat is out of the bag. Justifies your bias for Doctors. We are discussing cost of treatment for patients and not about doctor fees.
@in10RjFox doctors are part of the cost of treatment. office visits, calling for tests, sending a patient to a specialist when needed, follow up care in a hospital or nursing home . none of that is free. what he bills medicare or an insurance company are nowhere near what they pay

@saragoodtimes But patients still die even after paying for all the treatment.
@in10RjFox death is a part of living. what do you want a doctor to do, tell a patient there is no hope go home and die. my husband feels it every time he loses a patient and makes sure he consults with the family to give them comfort and explanations
