They are waking him up

They kept him heavily sedated this morning so they could administer a very high dose of antibiotics through his IV. Now they’re preparing to slowly wake him up—just like last time—to help keep him calm and avoid overwhelming him.

The process worked well before, although he stayed pretty loopy for a while and said some pretty funny (and random) things… so we’ll see what we get this time. Maybe I’ll be nice and not share it this round 😄
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. I’m still running on about an hour of sleep over the past 48 hours, so I’m pretty exhausted. I’ll share a full update later tonight or in the morning once I’ve had a little rest.

I hope they extend his antibiotics this time to prevent another occurrence. I know he admitted to being scared the last time around

@Cigarguys Good to hear. The antibiotic treatment cannot be too long in his case. Kill every bit of it this time. I went through pneumonia and a blood infection in October and they sent me into the therapy location with a mid port iv to keep the antibiotics going. Nonstop. They wanted to get everything. That's what he needs.

@Gibbon They’re going to place an IV port for him. He has difficult veins and has already blown a few IVs since being here, so this should make things much easier moving forward.

I’m honestly not sure why this wasn’t done from the beginning, since he does have a history of this—but I’m thankful they’re taking that step now.

@Cigarguys that's good. The one I had was in the arm and could be used for up to 4 weeks as long as there were no functional or infection issues
I hope you get some rest Joel :'(
I know it is hard on you
But he is strong and he is going to pull through it. You believe in him right?

Thanks for keeping us updated xx
As far as post-sedation loopiness goes - I once woke up after wisdom tooth extraction, with my mouth bulging with bloody cotton, adhesive residue on my face and hair looking like I’d stuck my finger in an electric socket, mumbling to my husband that I felt sexy.

@Mamapolo2016 he had a lot of confusion when he woke up and he kept asking me and our buddy if he could go home. And if he didn't like the answer he would ask the other person, he did this over and over and apparently our buddy thought it would be funny to tell him that I was the one that wouldn't let him go home so now he says I'm mean.
Thank you very much for keeping us updated. Continued best wishes to all of you.
