More like a waste of money. Guns are safe.

@SW-User They are not safe if someone kills you with one
SW-User
@Dlrannie They are safe in proper hands. People need to be educated in gun safety, and not blinded with promises of a smart gun.
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@SW-User Unfortunately not everyone who obtains one is suitably educated in the correct use of them.

@Dlrannie Therein lies the problem. The US can spend however much money they want on extra features on guns, but it won't help. If everyone would get proper education in gun safety less accidents would happen. I like to think a mix of German and US gun laws would be perfect. It's easy enough to go out shooting without applying at a gun range like in Germany, but to own guns one needs to understand them and what they are capable of.

@SW-User Sure? 117,000 people shot last year in the US?
SW-User
@Valentine Thanks for that totally unrelated number. What are you trying to say?
Valentine · M
@SW-User Isn't it semantics to suggest that 'guns are safe' when so many get shot? Each year?
SW-User
@Valentine Because people don't how to handle them. A gun on its own can't shoot. The person shoots.
