How do you nurture yourself?

Sometimes you need to focus on yourself, esp when others drain energy too much.

i like to take some quite time off and spend the time taking a long bath and taking good care of myself <3
Ive actually gotten good at winding down. It may not be very enticing to others but just like everyone, I have had to find what works for me. I like simple after I feel drained. It varies. Sometimes I like to busy myself in a project that requires me to focus. Play a video game, dragon age and titan fall are whooping my tail right now. Start watching a new television series. I'm risking discrimination posting this publicly but what I really find calming to me is reading the bible. Personally I enjoy it because I like to think over what I've read and reexamine myself. I like to spend time outside, it may not be for everyone but I find it peaceful. Gardening is a little work but it's peaceful as well unless you have ants. Also again this is work too but I like a good workout,it helps me clear my mind. A hot bubble bath is nice for unwinding, pinterest and window shopping online. I like to try my hand at crafts which I'm not very good at but I find it fun even if I am bad at it. I also like to put together floral arrangements. I find it calming to cook and bake. When I'm really stressed you can bet that my house is spotless and there are about fifty different desserts sitting around made completely from scratch. I know that doesn't sound like nurturing myself but I don't feel like I can relax with a pile of papers or laundry sitting next to me. I like to crochet and knit. And I also find it calming to read poetry. I hope I understood your question right and I hope you don't mind me asking, what do you like to do to nurture yourself?

@Momof2wonderfulkids: I understand how calming the bible would be, i too have a few spiritual books that i read, which helps me calm down a lot. Everytime they give a new insight. I like keeping things organized so once i see my room getting disorganized, i clean and it does help me wind down. I can think more clearly after that. I used to love gradening when i was at home, even just watering the plants and sitting around those plants was wonderful, now i miss that. Cooking and baking is something I haven't tried yet 😅 i cook enough to be able to eat, but i think it requires more time which i dont have, i find writing or reading much more easier and relaxing. Also, music, usually sad music is soothing to me. :)
I'm actually from the 1930s if anyone gets confused. Cooking/baking doesn't usually make the cut for everyone because it is so time consuming. I don't get to do half of the stuff as much as I'd like. But after a long week or day it's nice to do something for yourself if the opportunity arises. That's great. I really like those kind of books also. Sometimes a little reading and being outside can be the best thing for a busy mind.

@blueumbrella: Rachmaninov is the absolute master of nostalgia. Does he have any appeal for you?

When I tire of men and business of living, I sail. When I tire of women and love, I travel.

@sirjames: Sail by yourself? Do you have a boat? I love traveling too, but haven't had time since more than a year now.

I walk; I listen to classical music; I go on as many holidays as I can afford; I drive; Sometimes I read; I like to be alone quite often. How about you? The person who asks the question often doesn't get to answer it.

@alan20: I like to be alone around nature, listen to music, have a quiet time without having to talk to anyone, read and write. I used to love driving, but after i moved to where i am now, i can't.

@blueumbrella: I enjoy all of those things. This Monday I'm off to Southern Spain. I always stay beside the sea which I love but this will be a first - up in the mountains near Ronda which used to be inaccessible and a gypsy hideout. Hoping for some good howling winds and twinkling lights in the distance at night - beacons amidst the loneliness.

@in10RjFox: I very much agree with that!
