Is this stupid or not?

Some local governments in the US have barred "essential" stores, such as grocery chains or big-box retailers, from selling "nonessential" items such as clothing and toys.

There is in some areas actually a very good reason for this, and cities that have yet to do it are facing the problems as to why others have. I do feel clothing is an "essential" item. But Children have done very well with out the excess of toys they have no days for years and years. Often the less "toys" a child has the more stimulated their brain becomes and better appreciation and understanding of value things have moving towards adulthood.

@Kazuya69 That’s not a logical reason to ban people from buying stuff.
Kazuya69 · 31-35, M
@SimplyTracie no, the "Reason" is because people are taking their entire faimily, and friends to go "hang out". At the big stores that are open, and the large groups of people congregating without being there for the purpose of actually buying essential goods has lead to spikes in out breaks, more difficulty cleaning and sanitizing, and endangering staff. It's actually a pretty big issue for the people working in those stores.

@SimplyTracie "Andy Beshear said he had received a number of complaints from people who had witnessed groups congregating at grocery stores, home improvement stores and golf courses in violation of social distancing guidelines."

If you look into it, its a very big problem. Most of the time happening in " non essential " areas.

@Kazuya69 They should stop families from going shopping not barring people from buying non-essentials. What’s next to be barred? Are socks considered clothing? Oops, can’t but that.

@SimplyTracie "They should stop families from going shopping "

Really ? Stores and governments are going to tell what people are and are not allowed to shop now? Its much more effective and simple to remove the areas where people are causing these issues. Its been effective.

Its far more simple to have a store block off areas, then try and tell people themselves who can and can not enter the building.

@Kazuya69 People congregating in grocery stores? People are just stupid. But barring them from buying a t-shirt will not stop them from hanging out.

There are 22 million people out of work but lots of people are still working and children are still children that needs to keep occupied. Maybe more so in these stressful times.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Kazuya69 They are doing just that. Stores control who and when customers can enter the store.

@SimplyTracie People are stupid, and have clearly shown they can't be responsibility enough to follow simple rules. It actually has been very effective at least according to store personal and managers I know. Them and the government offices no longer getting complaints .

You can generally still purchase items like clothing, etc for pick up, online, or by asking an associate to get what you need for you.

Clothing I can understand being upset over, but children don't NEED toys those are a luxury not a necessity. People in a large part act the way they do because they are thought from a young age they can have or get whatever they want when they want it. This ISNT a good thing.
Kazuya69 · 31-35, M
@SimplyTracie Stores can say when, and how many, but they aren't picking and choosing who is and isnt allowed in. With the exception of a very short time period for essential workers, and elderly.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Kazuya69 Actually, I don’t see a problem if you and your wife and your 6 children go shopping together. Just don’t mingle with the other families that’s also shopping.
Kazuya69 · 31-35, M
@SimplyTracie so during a pandemic, you don't see a problem with increasing the chances of getting one of your family members killed ? Children have a tendency to touch a lot of things, put stuff in their mouths, and run off or around. If your alone or single and have no choice, fine you do what you have to, but the whole point is stopping UNNECESSARY risk. Or what if Members of your family are asymptomatic carriers and just for your convenience your fine with increasing the risk to others?

What people don't seem to understand is, non of this is about them, its about all the people they dont give a shit about. Its like a drunk driver saying if he wants to drive drunk its his choice, however its not his stupidity killing himself that's the problem. It is the innocent faimly that dies when he runs head into them.

@Kazuya69 You do what you gotta do. You wanna go protesting in the streets of Texas? Go for it.
I’ll be home safe with my family.
