There’s no evidence that is a cure. It helps alleviate symptoms.

There’s a lot of bad information going around, like not to take ibuprofen, or gargle with salt water, etc.

@LeopoldBloom did you watch teh video or read the article?
@Penny I'm not going to watch a video by some celebrity doctor. I did read the article, and it's very clear that the antibiotics do not affect the virus itself. They are effective on the secondary bacterial infections that often accompany viral infections, which is often what kills people. No surprise there; that's been established for a long time. The trial with 20 people taking azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine is interesting and once we have more data, maybe that will be the treatment of choice. We already know that zinc taken in the early stages of coronavirus infection can shorten the recovery time.

@LeopoldBloom that's not what the article said.
@Penny I think I summarized it. Are we reading the same one?

@LeopoldBloom you must have missed where it said azithromycin has been shown to have antiviral effects
@Penny And you must have missed where it said this was observed in vitro with other viruses. That's a long way from "take an azithromycin pill and no more COVID."

@LeopoldBloom whatever go away
@Penny Reading is fundamental.

Seriously, you don't think if there was a cure, doctors wouldn't use it? Azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine are dirt cheap and easily available.
