Is Donald Trump taking this situation seriously enough.

Taking it "seriously" I don't think is really the issue. He's grappling with it now, even if he seemed not to at first.

The bigger questions are how he's dealing with it and what his motivations are.

For example, I think he was trying to inject confidence into the system by talking up the malaria drug, and even making the states compete against each other and the feds for supplies and demanding subjugation from governor's if they want help is consistent with his management style.

The how seems pretty f-d up to me, but it's not like he's not applying his best skills to the problem.

Motivation is trickier, because to a degree his own political and financial interests are still not obviously divergent from the public interest. It something to always watch, given for example that population centers potentially most subject to quarantine are not Trump country, and crap like that signing statement, but realistically, there's nothing that can be done about Trump putting Trump over the country or the law until the election, anyway after impeachment failed and Republicans said they don't care what he does as long as they get a piece of the action.

This latest depreciation thing in the stimulus package is a pretty good example of that. But it's not really that different than the earlier tax cuts, and in exchange for it, some lower income folks might get a little relief.

@MistyCee Agreed, I think he is grappling with it now. But is this because he was advised too to avoid political suicide. Personally I think the man is a bit of a narcissist with sociopathic tendencies and his latest comments about the volume of disposable citizens (not in those words) seams to provide some evidence of that, it also reflects in the way he speaks, and yes the how does seam pretty f—d up. Thanks for your response, it was thought provoking.
