Is the COVID 19 really as bad as the portrayal in the media?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/coronavirus?ocid=spartanntp 400,000+ cases of COVID 19, 280K active in treatment, 107K cured and 18K resulted in fatalities world wide. That is a fatality rate of about 4.5% while considerably higher that seasonal flu, it doesn't seem like bodies stacked in the streets plague. Is it really worth damaging the economy in ways that will be felt for several years for some?

Everybody is worth something... but we all will suffer misery when the economy collapses... When it does we will have Corona and many more problems as well to deal with.

4 .5% of the world's population is a pretty big number. It's serious

@Summersrain I didn't say it wasn't serious, I am staying home and following the recommendations laid out, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as the reporting seems to make it look like. How many will die if the economy collapses? There will be war, famine and disease in addition to the deaths by the COVID virus. How many businesses will fail and how many years will it take to reconstruct if we over react?
