anybody have a thoracentecis?

I have a pleural effusion and having this procedure tomorrow. Anyone who has had it please clue me in. Im a bit scared at the moment but will help me breathe so must forge ahead--thank you

They will numb the area and then insert a needle into the space between the lung and body wall to drain off fluid that has collected there and hampers your ability to breathe. You should feel almost instant improvement with breathing and energy levels. I have seen a few done when I was in school. You will have a small band aid over the spot and thats it

@TexChik thank you so much for reply. I am so tired---and feel heavy. Sure sounds icky but I so want to feel better.Hope it doesnt take long.

@CheriVanilla depends on how much fluid you have but your relief will be almost immediate
