Is it normal to have suicidal thoughts when you've become crippled??

I've got a herniated disc in my neck and it's causing me physical pain, numbness the whole works, I've been thinking of ending it all so I don't need to deal with this anymore.... yes there's surgery but what happens if I come out more broken than what I am...

I have 3 discs pressing on my spine, am in constant pain, and have been slowly losing feeling in my legs for about 5 years now (I cannot feel the front of my legs at all).

I, have not committed suicide.
