Why is it considered normal to bathe/shower daily?

It didn't become normal until relatively recently in history, and dermatologists are saying it's not really good for our skin, unless we are getting dirty/sweaty every single day.

I’m living in a water restriction zone level 4 atm.. The dams are dry. When I have a shower I collect the water in buckets... for the plants that won’t survive and to add boiling kettle water to.
A nice soapy sponge bath ... yup ...everyday...maybe twice .... just saying...you don’t need to shower everyday

@WineandCoffee honestly a spongebath wouldn't get me clean. I work in a metal shop so everyday I come home covered in oil, aluminum shavings, and wax.
