does anyone else suspect that sunscreen is causing more harm than good?

i suspect that in 20 to 30 years, studies will show that all the chemicals that have been absorbed into the body have been the leading cause of a number of infirmities and diseases.

sunblock is not a transdermal drug - its a topical ointment - I suppose if you drank it you would have problems.

@MarmeeMarch i'm allergic to chemical sunscreens. trust me, i know the physiological effects.
@blindbob well if you are allergic - for some reason Aveeno sunblocks make me itch

@MarmeeMarch skin is porous, you know.
@blindbob I know.
@blindbob and they make the nicotine patch specifically to enter your bloodstream - I dont think sunblock works that way pharmacologically

@MarmeeMarch a mineral "sunblock" is reflective, but a chemical sunscreen (what most people use) heats up and breaks down the sun's rays. so chemical sunscreens are chiefly at risk because of that process, and then there are the questions about nano-particles from mineral sunscreens that are small enough to be absorbed into the blood stream. now imagine if you used a sunscreen or a sunblock every single day for most of your life. imagine the buildup of these particles. we all thought asbestos were ok once upon a time.
@blindbob u do know that we have livers and kidneys and immune systems for a reason -right >?
@blindbob asbestos is a physical mineral that lines the pulmonary sacs and over time causes them not to function the way they should.

@MarmeeMarch my point is we thought we had it figured out; we didn't.
@blindbob yea but you have to be exposed to asb for many many years - - even when car brakes used that - asb was in the air every time car stopped.
