Why did you start? Personally, I think it's silly. Animals exist for the purpose of being useful to people. But if you are one of those "animals are people too" folks I suppose you will stay that way.
If you are a sensible fellow you will enjoy a steak dinner tomorrow like I did tonight: cooked over a charcoal fire on the grill in the backyard.

Meanwhile, I still think the notion of a moral imperative is more than a little silly but what matters in your case is how you personally feel about it.
