I was experimenting with Amanita Muscaria a year or so ago and discovered it was good for depression. It's also legal in most states. I never ate enough to trip, just to take the edge off things.

@robb65 where do you get them ,please explain
For those that harvest them for themselves ,you have to know what you are doing or you could die
I know a guy who whipped cancer with shroon's but they are so toxic I don't tell many people about it ,the kind he grew himself are very acetic and the dose he took had to be slowly reached ,but it worked ,cancer cant survive in those conditions
But as to your little friend ,do you harvest it or buy it somewhere ?

I ordered on ebay. I've never seen any here. I was trying them to see if it would help me to focus on my work but then I noticed I wasn't as depressed. At first thought it was just my imagination but then I researched a bit more and discovered they were known to help with that. I would just nibble a little piece and wait a while. If it was a bad day I would have a little more later.
From what I understand it is questionable if they are in fact toxic to humans. The bigger issue is the risk of confusing them with a different mushroom that is toxic. There are some related ones that are deadly.

@robb65 back in the day (and I am surrounded by pastures and since I am a country boy always have been )
I would just ask for permission to be in them and thereby breaking no laws
I have never been one to "Trip " on anything ,but
If it can block pain so I could work with severe pain that finally lead to part of my spine being removed ,,I would pay any amount for a drug that could help me accomplish that ,,,but all meds come with their own side effects
But I know which shroons to harvest from the ones that will kill you so I traded them ...
But this little red button has only had a few reported deaths I know of
But due to it looking almost just like some very lethal ones ,that is the problem as with the ones I used to harvest ,,if you don't know exactly what to look for you can end up like the boy in the VW camper who ate the wrong kind of Potato they made a movie about .
I know a lot about things you can and can't eat in the woods ,,but when in doubt ,leave it be
But thanks for sharing this ,I may look into it more
I know a lot of people now days who won't seek peace from the same place I do
So I like being able to advise them of other methods ,and not just meds that turn them into zombies
Thanks again
