A year younger than when I was in the 2000
@PrinceAlu find a way to get out there and make it happen or you’ll regret it when you’re older. At your age you should be bonking away like a jackhammer.

29, and I rang in the new millennium in a server room waiting for the end of the world with my fellow propeller heads.

29, and I rang in the new millennium in a server room waiting for the end of the world with my fellow propeller heads.

That was one of the biggest hoaxes ever. Consulting firms cleaned up, certifying companies (and the government) Y2K ready. My entire extended family was harassing me, for over a year, to "clean" up their computers. I did.
SW-User
@Northwest It was definitely a boom period for my industry, and of course, the bubble popped about 6 months after.
SW-User
@Northwest Yep! That was MEEEE!
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
old enough to know that prince wrote a song about it
helenS · 36-40, F
@JarJarBoom Even an album!
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@SW-User you obviously haven't heard of prince's song called "CCNA"
SW-User
@JarJarBoom 😂🤣
He did write a song called "Computer Blue", so maybe that was meant for IT'ers in 1999 since we were going to miss the festivities.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
It was the year before all of the chaos of the turn of the century.
helenS · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 People were afraid that computer systems would no longer work, because “99” is followed by “00”. Or so I’m told.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helenS yup, my hospital went on "lock down," and switched all computers off to see what was going to happen. Nothing did!

Happy, successful (a constant state/awareness of my happy self).. But things change & I definitely changed.. For the best I believe.. It was a scary rough time for me..

It depends. Did a health-altering event occur in 1999?

I was 39 and had finally gotten transferred to my favorite office over in Berkeley.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Perfect! Did you spend much time in downtown SF after work?
@SW-User Occasionally. But usually I was so tired I headed straight home. It's funny, when I was promoted in 2002, I transferred again, to an office walking distance to SF Chinatown. I could see the pyramid, too.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Chinatown would be fun :) I was in town for Chinese New Year once (year of the Tiger). I love SF.

@PrinceAlu lol. Honestly 53 is 53, no matter how old I was anytime in the past. Make me 43 again and I will forever be in your debt.
JustNik · 51-55, F
I turned 27 that year.
