Why do they make getting mental health help so hard?

I waited over a year to finally get insurance and I want to see a therapist to help me with a few things. But no one takes my insurance (Medicaid like state insurance)

No wonder drug addiction and school shootings are so rampant, when you reach out for help they make you jump through hoops or pay outrageous amounts of money
yep the healthcare is just a joke if things didnt cost so much people wouldnt even need insurance or jump through hoops just to get the help they need.

In the uk the healthcare is free but it's getting bad. There are certain things like eg mental health services that yes it's one hoop after the other. They sort of chuck pills at you but they make you wait and wait and wait for actual one on one help. I found coming here really helpful because in my lowest of lows I could find someone who was going through some stuff and it became like a counselling session day or night. Not just one sided either because you get to help someone in return. As they say it only takes one person to say how are you and wait for the reply.
I suffered for many many years with Depression ..Anxiety ..Panic Disorder .and Social Phobia ..Eventually i got my life back ..

I became involved in helping My own doctors in telling them how depression really does effect you your life ..Also my doctors got me to talk to other Suffers of Mental health Problems ..

To be able to come to terms with what you are suffering from.. And have a good friend you can trust in ..If possible chat with someone who has experienced Mental health at first hand ..

I hope all goes well for you .. I do understand ..🌼🌼🌼

The healthcare system here is a joke in general.
Is there a l9cal government agency...like county health service...that can help?

Where I live some of them work on a sliding scale. If there is a help l8fe or suicide help line maybe they can refer you?

@approachingmyexpirationdate my dr referred me somewhere but they stopped taking it they haven't found another place. And they used to have sliding scale payment options but that went out the window with obamacare. So far the cheapest ive found is $75 a session
@somethingIsuppose sorry sweetie. That's crazy

@approachingmyexpirationdate yup but I'm still looking and will pay $75 luckily I have a desire to be better so I'm not giving up but I'm sure other people who are depressed would probably just give up and feel like no one cares

This nation is stupid and cruel at times.

We still suffer from not recognizing that mental maladies are as crippling as physical. Until people stop seeing weakness and see illness we are going to be stuck repeating the same mistakes.
