Well my friend went to a neurologist because that same thing happened to her and she ended up getting prescribed pills but she says they don't really help

Eye strain is hugely overrated as a cause of headaches. It's virtually an "old wives tale". You would have other eye symptoms before headaches.
Your headaches are coming from the trapezius muscles "clamping down" on the occipital nerve which runs right through that muscle on both sides of your neck. The muscles are tense for any number of reasons - posture, lots of time looking down, nervous tension, wrong pillow, etc etc. Work on relaxation and allowing those muscles to settle down. A warm towel around your neck, gentle neck movements, hot showers. Topical pain relievers can help too.

Tension headache

@SW-User Is there any way to alleviate a tension headache. I've done a little bit of research on them and pain relieving medication is often recommended but I don't want to have to take it everyday?

@PastelHearts1412 make sure to sit properly. Get up and stretch every so often. If you look at monitors all day, make sure your chair is properly adjusted. Eliminate eye strain.

See the eye doctor and make sure.

If you feel like you are straining to read or see things, or squinting or moving closer, then yes, it is your eyes. It could also be stress, or maybe you are sleeping differently, and it is hurting your neck.

It could be a sinus problem ... often a headache at the base of the skull is related to sinuses ... how is your breathing through your nose?
PastelHearts1412 · 22-25, F
@Ozdharma On a scale from 1 to 10, it's a 7. Is there anything I can do (or should do) to fix that?
Ozdharma · 61-69, M
@PastelHearts1412 if it is that bad have you taken any medication? Also it would be worth getting your eyes tested just in case and go to a Dr. I had sinus headaches for ages and took over the counter medication which caused other problems and eventually a scan revealed blocked sinuses.

Actually my glasses cause me headaches. 🤓 🤕

@Fauxmyope2 Check to ensure the end of the earpieces are pressing in too tight as they can put pressure on the occipital nerve
Fauxmyope2 · 31-35, F
@LucyAndEddy TY! They don’t seem tight. I wish that was the cause.

Take a vision test. It's better to be safe than sorry.
