Some people smoke for a short time and get cancer or other related diseases almost right away, others smoke for years (decades) before anything developes. There are many yet still who are elderly and been smoking since they were teens and have never had a single problem whatsoever (you rarely, practically never hear about them). Smoking does not automatically mean hat you will have health problems or issues....it increases your risk for that to happen, but it doesn't mean necessarily that you will. It's good that you want to quit though, I wish you all the luck in the world.🤠
