Why am I so sad?

Ever since I found out I have Lupus I cannot stop crying everyday. I cry when I wake up. I cry before I go to sleep. And sometimes throughout the day. I think of scenarios where I'm dying. Scenarios where I'm suffering. I don't know how to control this.

Lupus, like diabetes, is insidious. It invades every area of your body and disrupts every part of your life. There is no cure.

How long ago were you diagnosed? There is bound to be a mourning period. Then it's time to look for help to control the symptoms and deal, with the pain, and learn to handle the new limitations you have been handed through no fault of your own.

You also need to learn to forgive yourself for feeling hopeless and helpless. Eventually you'll,need to stop crying and seek relief. You have just been handed a life sentence for a crime you never committed. Of course you're sad. You are probably angry too. But you must get through this and try to find some quality of life.

My heart is with you in this terrible time.

@Lupepnte I'm so sorry. I'm not going to pretend to know how you feel, but I have read up on it as I used to work in personal care and one of my clients had lupus. I wanted to understand what she was dealing with, so before I started working for her, I learned a bit about it. It's a horrible diagnosis to hear. When I met her, she'd had it for a few years, but still had her moments of grief and anger.

Just stay tough. Keep fighting.

There had to be psychological support for people with your diagnosis. Seek it out. I'm sorry, it must be so scary.

It's not uncommon to fall into depression when faced with significant medical issues. Your diagnosis represents a change in your life, loss, possible complications...it's a big deal.

However, symptoms of both lupus and depression can be managed and worked through, that's the good news. If you feel like you need assistance a good therapist like a psychologist, LCSW or other psychotherapist can often be a great help. Good luck.
