How Would You Keep Your Sanity

And not fall into utter despair, if you were in solitary confinement for years?

Let's say you have access to some things you like, such as limited t.v., radio, music, reading material, the Internet, workout apparatus etc, (your choice) but no people.

How would you spend your time and what would you do?

If your scenario could exist than I could not keep my sanity. To know that other people live and interact physically, emotionally and mentally but that I could not interact with them would cause my absolute breakdown. All of the distractions you list would not be sufficient to replace the necessity of human connection.
Thankfully your scenario cannot exist. To have TV, internet, books, etc. implies the requirement for human connection.
However, what if we expand this scenario to the human race? What if by some quirk of science we are able to prove that intelligent life exists in some distant star system? Without faster than light propulsion it would take thousands of years to reach the others. How would that isolation, that interstellar solitary confinement affect the sanity of mankind?
