How Would You Keep Your Sanity

And not fall into utter despair, if you were in solitary confinement for years?

Let's say you have access to some things you like, such as limited t.v., radio, music, reading material, the Internet, workout apparatus etc, (your choice) but no people.

How would you spend your time and what would you do?

I would think that after this solitary confinement there will be finally some human touch. And would prepare for this moment. Would try to know me better, and get mentally stronger and wiser. And would also write about my lonely days in case it may help someone.
Carissimi · F
No, Cierzo, no human touch ever again, but you would be allowed a pet.

I think writing about your feelings is cathartic, so that's a good point.

Georgimy, I never gave much credence to conspiracy theories, but my mind is more open to them now. If the questions are valid, and the response is to ignore the question or belittle the questioner, then to my thinking that's obfuscation and raises a red flag to me. I think your choice is as valid as any other.

If your scenario could exist than I could not keep my sanity. To know that other people live and interact physically, emotionally and mentally but that I could not interact with them would cause my absolute breakdown. All of the distractions you list would not be sufficient to replace the necessity of human connection.
Thankfully your scenario cannot exist. To have TV, internet, books, etc. implies the requirement for human connection.
However, what if we expand this scenario to the human race? What if by some quirk of science we are able to prove that intelligent life exists in some distant star system? Without faster than light propulsion it would take thousands of years to reach the others. How would that isolation, that interstellar solitary confinement affect the sanity of mankind?

@missEP, if I can do it, I don't know about it, but I know someone who says they did it after 8-hours of deep meditation. My mind is open. Is it astral projection or is it the mind playing tricks after prolonged meditation? I don't know.
Omg :) carrismi , I am and have been researching this area for the past decade :) I keep seeing the same numbers and I'm buzzing constantly , my perception of life has improved vastly since Iv been astral projecting or vivid dreaming :)

I would use that time to recognize how the world has influenced my thoughts and actions negatively, seek a deeper spiritual connection, and create art again.

An excellent question and one I've thought about since I was a child. You've added Internet TV and radio! I would write novels and make the characters vividly real. I would invent things and draft it all out. I would further my education by constantly reading and studying. But one thing is for sure.. I will not lose my sanity

Well develop a routine and depends a little? Do i know i someday have human contact again ? Is it against my will etc. But still routine is my solution. Just different routine on every different situation.

That is a very good question to contemplate. I have a fairly solitary nature, so in some ways it is easy for me, but I *do* know I need a certain amount of human interaction... which in fact, is one of the reasons I am here!
Carissimi · F
Astral projection? Is this something you can do, or have you been reading too many Dennis Wheatly books...at least I think he is the author. I read them as a teenager, and loved them.
Aleksi22 · 26-30, M
Well i enjoy playing against myself. And i can to it fast... not thinking just going with my gut or slow like move a Day ei i can always think lots and exercise my brain lookin for the Best moves on both sides
Aleksi22 · 26-30, M
Well excercise first and foremost. Then i would read. Educate myself propably learn a language or two play chess and whatch some tv.
Carissimi · F
Can you play chess alone, @Aleksi?

Btw, I like your plan.
Carissimi · F
Why do you think vivid dreaming has improved your life, Georgimy?
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
I'd read, write, and research on the net... :)
That's what I carnt explain! Check ur inbox please

@ JakeShade: I am EXACTLY in the same situation as you and that´s the reason why I am here, too. And because English is a foreign language for me it helps me to keep my sanitary, because I am talking almost daily in this language to my soulmate here. :-D
I try to keep my mind going as best as I can and that by using the web I educate myself and I do a lot of research regarding conspiracies :( quite boring and pathetic to some but I carnt stop for some reason. Strange things I have witnessed which need answering

I just am silly and enjoy posting silly stuff it's entertaining and harmless to me and others
Carissimi · F
@Aleksi, I think routine would be extremely important. What activities would you choose?
SW-User
The Guinea pig thing works for me as far as keeping me sane
Carissimi · F
Oh, well I was hoping for some genuine responses because it wastes my time asking questions of people just being silly.
