Last time I was in hospital one of the nurses was a man. He did a fine job. When I was 17 I worked as a nurse's assistant in a government hospital for 2 months. That gave me an appreciation for the work nurses do.

Makes no difference to me except in one category.. I fractured(hairline fracture) my pelvis bone and required a temp. Foly Catheter. U get where im going with this?

Very happy with both, but have always enjoyed my interactions with male nurses. They are there with purpose.

I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months two years ago and I had mostly male nurses. It didn't bother me. They already took my dignity when they stripped me to examine my body for cuts, scrapes etc. when I was admitted. We always uncovered one part at a time to allow the patient some dignity.

I don't really care which gender as long as they know what they are doing. I had mean male nurses and mean female nurses. One left a blown IV in my arm, while another nurse did not even bother to do her job while I was in the hospital with a hole in my lung.

I personally don't care. I think the connotations of gender when it comes to nurses is a thing of the past. Also, this is probably a dumb question that could easily be answered on google, but, does nursing require med school? Or is it just some specialized training after your undergrad?
