I recently found out I have hypertension, how can I lower my blood pressure?

So for anyone who cares (or is perhaps a little nosy too) I got my blood pressure checked today and it was 134/103. I didn't think that was too bad, but now my parents are urging me to go my GP and get it treated. I was just wondering is there any other way to lower it?

As far as I know that's not high BP but it can't hurt to check with your doctor. Mine's been as high as 200

That's fine though!

That's what I thought, but my parents aren't having any of it. I've sort of made a deal that if it gets higher I'll go and see someone about it.

@randompi No harm having it rechecked. Perhaps understandably your parents are just anxious, want to protect you/your health

Drink more water and walk more.

That's high...Try lowering your salt/ sodium intake, limiting the amount of sodas you have, drink more water, and exercise more. I lowered my blood pressure by 15 points by doing those things, and now I take care to make sure my blood pressure stays where it's supposed to be.

It's not a good result per se but i think with lifestyle modifications (eat healthier, avoid smoking, don't be sedentary...) it will help it be on the normal side.

@BloviatingBuffoon It's not that bad either. Could also be due to "White Coat Syndrome"

If you are looking for a natural remedy, check into hawthorn berries. The tea, works the most efficiently. They also come in capsule form...
