growing up around plenty of females... not many i knew had it...... but i knew one girl who developed it because she had allergies to detergents and didn't realize it until one day what she thought was an yeast infection that got out of hand damned near put her in the hospital.
she was just mucus all over... inside and out and in dire pain. it took months to treat her with medications and trial and error with diet and everything else that she touched.
it was like mono in a way but it was a bacterial infection through weakened immunity fighting things her body was rejecting.
she's still around and way happier.. she just has to watch what she washes everything in, eat and stay the hell away from dairy.
she said the pain was worse than giving birth.. YO!

there's 3 million cases a year it's obviously more common than you think.
