You are love.

It is human nature to need things from this world. As soon as we’re born we need more extended care from others than any other species just to survive. Even as we grow older into adulthood and learn some amount of independence, any negativity we feel still comes from something we would like from life. There is no end to the amount of things we want to be there for us. Family, friends, lovers, pets, maybe just your belongings, freedoms, or health. A dream. You name it. There’s so many things we seek outside of ourselves for fulfillment.

I believe every bad feeling we have comes from placing our well being in these ideas. These circumstances or conditions dependent on things beyond our control. I also think it’s our heart’s way of asking for help. For reassurance. For comfort. For love. Stress is how it communicates that we are indeed lacking something. What we’ve gone without leading to our every struggle is not anything I’ve mentioned so far, but it’s something everyone has. It’s something that was always there and won’t ever leave…

It’s ourself. Yourself. The self. You can be everything you need. I feel all suffering is meant to teach us this lesson and it’s why we will continue to experience suffering until we learn it. External factors are certainly beneficial, they’re why we’ve come as far as we have, but further progress won’t be possible until you are what you have. You are love, but you won’t ever become love until you stop looking for it.

Like any other relationship, the one you have with yourself must be worked on every day. I wake up and face many things which cause negative feelings to well up inside of me. I’m only human. I just think of that as my heart reaching out to me for help. Often wanting my assurance that things are okay. It’s tired, upset, anxious, anything that feels bad. Instead of seeking comfort elsewhere. I take my heart myself. I hold it, and let it know that everything is going to alright because I’m here and that’s enough. Everything around us, whatever it is, exactly as it is. No matter the situation. It’s all enough. Enough to be happy because no matter how much changes, my commitment to it never has to. Life to me became perfect not because anything ever improved, but because it didn’t have to.

One of the best posts I've read in a long time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

@StarLily Thank you for your comment! It’s always nice to know when someone can appreciate the things I write. It’s my hope when I take the time to post on here. It’s only my journey, and what has worked for me on it, but I’d like to think we’re all human and could use something from the experience of others.

@Reject I share a lot of your thoughts... it was nice to read something I relate to.

And yes, some may not share or understand your experiences... but for one person it may be exactly what they needed to hear. So don't stop writing and sharing!

I also think it’s our heart’s way of asking for help. For reassurance. For comfort. For love.
I love that part.

@StarLily Your encouragement means a lot to me! I will continue to do my best. If it helps even one person, then it was worthwhile. You help someone, you help everyone.

For that bit of writing I thought of what everyone looks for when they’re hurting. Most people stop at what they think will solve the problem without questioning why they think that. Our heart has a somewhat atypical way of communicating, found in how it’s pain is meant to instruct us, but it’s also very consistent in doing this and can be understood to one who cares enough to accept even the harsher parts of life. They’re not meant to be avoided or fought against, they’re meant to be loved.
