It depends so much on the individual and what the therapy is for, and also how well therapist and patient work together.
I have had three sessions over the years, and one did not work because what the therapist wanted me to do, failed. She seemed to think I had something in my background I did not want to release, but I doubted it then and do so in hindsight.
